Kinderboekenweek 2026 took place from 30 September to 11 October. Its theme, Spot aan!, focused on stories about singing, dancing, acting and life around the stage. The CPNB is the campaign organisation.
Turn a story into a small performance
You do not need to stage a full musical. Read a short scene aloud and let children act out the characters. Choose a song that fits the mood. Small groups can invent a dance or a brief scene together.
Offer backstage roles too: announcing the performers, starting the music or drawing a backdrop. Children who prefer to watch can join later or help in another way.
Keep using the ideas after the week
The 2026 event has ended, but its reading and performance activities still work for a creative afternoon, a class project or a school celebration. Pick one short activity and leave time to talk about the story afterwards.
