Good Sinterklaas music mixes familiar songs with dance favourites. Children recognise the celebration and still have plenty of chances to move. Use this selection for school, an after-school club or a family party.
The Sinterklaas playlist
Open the Sinterklaas dance and party playlist on Spotify, save it to your library and test your speaker before the event.
What should you play at each moment?
Prepare three short blocks. For arrival, choose familiar songs at a gentle volume so children can hear the helpers. For dancing, choose two or three songs and demonstrate a simple movement. For goodbye, have Het Uitzwaailied ready and agree who starts it when Sinterklaas is ready to leave.
Lower or stop the music during conversations and gift giving. Children should not have to shout over it.
A short dance block
Try one warm-up song, a round of freeze dance and one shared dance. Explain the game before starting the music. Nobody needs to be eliminated. Find the full instructions in planning a Pietendisco, and organise the whole event with the Sinterklaas party schedule.

Choosing songs for different ages
With younger children, start with short Dutch songs and clear movements such as waving and clapping. Zwaai naar Sint and Het Uitzwaailied offer a simple theme to follow. Older children can try a longer dance sequence. In a mixed group, start together and add an optional challenge.
