A sample two-hour disco schedule

- 0–15 minutes: arrival, drinks and gentle music from the class request list.
- 15–40 minutes: first dance round and a shared opening song.
- 40–50 minutes: water break and time to chat.
- 50–80 minutes: dancing and a short game chosen beforehand.
- 80–95 minutes: a break, perhaps a group photograph or short thank-you.
- 95–115 minutes: final dance round with the children's favourites.
- 115–120 minutes: close together and explain pickup.
This is a planning example, not fixed package content. Put a meal, school musical or longer speeches outside this disco block. Find suitable dance games here.
Ten practical planning tips

- Celebrate together. One shared party makes it easier to include the whole class.
- Share jobs and the budget. Divide booking, food, invitations and supervision between parents or teachers.
- Plan a welcoming entrance. Familiar music and a friendly greeting are enough to get started.
- Choose a theme with the class. Neon, Hollywood, festival or tropical ideas can guide decorations and outfits.
- Send clear invitations. Include the address, arrival time, finish time, food arrangements and anything to bring.
- Keep thank-yous short. Place cards, a song or a brief speech before the disco or after the final dance.
- Keep snacks simple. Ask about dietary needs and arrange water and other drinks.
- Match the length to the programme. Around 1.5 to 2 hours is a useful starting point for the disco. Plan breaks and discuss timing with the DJ.
- Start planning early. Agree a date with school and parents before confirming the venue and DJ.
- Agree how to record memories. Discuss photographs with the school and parents, then choose a suitable moment.
Music and supervision

Ask the class for a short request list and choose an opening and closing song together. The DJ can check which versions suit the ages and school agreements. Find inspiration in the playlist for ages 8 to 12.
Choose one contact for the DJ and another for parents collecting children. Agree who stays near the entrance and who supports a child needing a quiet break. Put the pickup place on the invitation. Discuss phone use beforehand too.
